The RSPM

The RSPM seeks to replicate consumer shopping patterns, using individual store locations and household addresses to forecast where people will shop and how much they will spend.

What is it?

The RSPM is the UK’s only fully integrated retail supply and demand gravity model. It forecasts consumer shopping patterns & spend and retail sales & profit. As a gravity model the RSPM takes account of the two key consumer motivators:

  • accessibility to retail facilities (measured by drivetime)
  • the relative attractiveness of retail facilities (measured by the scale and variety of brands)
